Tango is a 6 1/2 year old female Doberman who is the sweetest girl you will ever meet. She brings smiles and attention wherever she goes.
She was diagnoised with Osteosercoma about 4 weeks ago when she suddenly went lame in her right rear leg. We were in shock and heartbroken as anyone can imagine at hearing this as we thought it was simply a case of her twisting her leg.
To make matters worse, if that’s possible, we were in the midst of closing on our home in Florida and moving to New Hampshire when we found out.
It has been an extremely stressful few weeks as we educate ourselves about all of this, come to terms with the amputation, and the financial aspect of it all.
We were lucky enough to have our vet refer PEAK Veterinary Referral Services in VT. to us and they have been tremendous, very informative and patient.
We received a call from them at 4:30p today informing us that the surgery went well and she would be monitored during the next 24 hours and possibly go home tomorrow.
We know that when we go to pick her up it will be emotional for us and we will be learning along with Tango.
Hopefully this site will help us feel more comfortable with all of this, answer some questions & as time goes on maybe we can be of some help to others who are new to all of this like we are now.
Hi and welcome! I’m so glad that the surgery went well and you may be getting your girl home tomorrow.
It will be emotional when you see Tango, but if she’s getting around like Zato did, it won’t be nearly as bad as you think.
We wish you all the best as you begin this journey.

Thank you Tracy & Zatoichi. Your kind words are much appreciated. We are just taking it one day at a time in order to get through the worst of it. Thanks again! Doug & Mari
